Most of you are aware that the student strike adopted during SWSA’s last general assembly has begun. We know that this is a stressful time for all social work students and for faculty alike. As we are all adapting to this new situation, tensions may arise, and we trust that adjustments will be made by all parties. Let’s all commit to maintaining a respectful environment. SWSA also wishes to remind you that soft picketing was adopted as a strategy during our own social work general assembly and as such, we encourage you to respect picket lines.
On a different note, here are the activities that are planned in the upcoming days, pertaining to tuition hikes and the strike:
Thursday March 22nd:
- Meeting at 11h30 with all social work students at Milton Gates before joining the McGill contingent at Roddick Gates for the national demonstration. All those who oppose tuition hikes are welcome!
Friday March 23rd:
- Meeting at 8h at Wilson Hall with the strike mobilization committee (mob committee for short) and supporters
Monday March 26th:
- 9h30: SWSA General Assembly in the Wilson Hall cafeteria (basement) - this is when students will decide whether or not the strike should continue. Regardless of your opinion, we encourage you to attend!
At any time, if you are uncomfortable with the way events are going, you should feel free to email SWSA at communication.swsa@gmail.com
If you want to join the SWSA Mob Committee or simply show your support in other ways, please contact us at: mob.swsa@gmail.com
Sincerely,
SWSA
